To be mentally strong means you are someone who is able to control and manage your emotions, thoughts and behavior regardless of what you are going through in life.
Job 14:2 says that, man born of a woman is of few of days, and full of trouble and he springs up like a flower, and withers away;like a fleeting shadows, and do not endure.
Because of this it is very critical to develop mental strength that can help you navigate through challenges and difficult situation.
What can you do to be mentally strong? Whenever you encounter a problem you can’t solve, you need mental strength to help you during this trying time.
Mental strength is a skill that you can get by doing the following;
1. Work on Your Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence is the ability and capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships and . For you to be mentally strong you need the ability to understand and tolerate strong negative emotions.
2. Have the Mind to Challenge your Limitation
Mentally strong people don’t run away from challenges. For you to be strong in the midst of storms, you continually challenge yourself gradually you develop muscle of the mind and eventually you become mentally strong to be able to navigate through the waves of life.
There is a common saying that limitation is your own imagination. Eliud Kipchoge proved to the whole world that no man is limited.
3. Get the Mind to be a Pioneer
Learning to start and developing new ideas is another way you can use to improve your mental strength. Albert Einstein says insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.
Moving away from your comfort zone is important for your mental health.
4. Learn to be Flexible
Since we cannot control the outcome of every situation in our life or the actions of the people around us, it is important to be flexible. To be mentally strong you need to learn to accept people and things that don’t match your personality and belief. Being flexible provides space for you to grow and develop.
5. Don’t loose Hope
For you to be mentally strong you need to have Faith. Faith is like your WIFI, even though you don’t see it, has the power to connect you to great things. Faith is a very powerful engine that keeps you going regardless of difficult situation you are encountering in life.
Hope is a very powerful engine in your life and never let of go it. Cling to it because it will give you the mental strength to know there is a better tomorrow.
6. Exercise Daily
Maintaining healthy lifestyle is very important to your life. Healthy body will definitely affect your mental health. Exercising daily is good for your mental strength as it goes a long way in shaping your daily life.
It is important for you to understand your body and how to maintain a high PQ which is ability to listen, identify and respond to internal messages about your physical self.
You need to be knowledgeable in fitness,nutrition and bodily wellness. It is important to consult an expert to guide you through this process. I can advise to get more information about your body type and few techniques you can use for your daily exercise.
7. Get enough Rest
Ensure you get enough sleep every day. Four hours of sleep helps maintain your mental strength. Lack of sleep is a disease that has no cure and the only solution is to sleep.
Lack of sleep can you hinder you from thinking properly and keeping your emotions at kneel. Research has shown that lack of sleep can affect your work performance, cause strain your relationship, cause mood problems like anger and depression.
If problems get enough sleep consult a doctor on the way forward.
8. Be Risk Oriented
Life of man is full of challenges and every day you encounter a storm, tides that you need to face head on. For you to be mentally strong you need to learn to take risks. Financial experts say that the higher the risk the higher reward in investments. The same applies when dealing with problems that scare you. Try them to take risks
9. Be a Good Listener
Listening is the key pillar to communication. Without communication you will tend to be isolated and can’t develop. Listening develops your skills of analyzing and decision making. 10. Have a Mentor
All successful people have a person to advice, rebuke and commend them on their life journey. You should have a person who will help you navigate life issues. There is a very big difference when you have a mentor and for those who don’t have a mentor. Having strong people around you can be an added advantage. Strong people gives you counsel on what you need to do during your trying times.
