Juliana Rotich Awarded For Her Technological Innovation

A 42-year-old Juliana Rotich was feted by the German African Foundation, for her outstanding social entrepreneurial commitment in IT innovation.

The award will be handed to her by German Chancellor Angela Markel in a ceremony in Berlin.

There, more than 300 guests from political, business and social sphere will attend.

It was said that Juliana’s technological innovation have been outstanding and has contributed to development in the African continent.

The event organizer said in a statement that the global demand for such innovations proves that digital products ‘made in Africa’ can conquer the world market.

Juliana is the co-founder of the open-source platform Ushahidi.It allows users to upload events such that they can be located chronologically and geographically on a map.

These real-time maps are now used in more than 160 countries, for example, in times of crisis and natural disaster or for election monitoring.
