Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency Has Received Funds For Infrastructure Expansion

The National Government has relayed funds that is set to boost the Ksh.36 billion ongoing works for the period 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

The chairman of the agency`s board, Erick Okeyo said that the extra funds approved last week by Water Principal Secretary Joseph Irungu will be fixed to projects targeting water harvesting.

Okeyo said that Ksh.190 million will go towards ground water exploitation, Ksh.148 million for cross-county funds for boreholes drilling and Ksh.64 million for water-for-schools project.

The agency has faced leadership disputes which led to two persons being named as chief executive officer.

Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui and his PS Irungu had gazetted George Odede and Daniel Oronje as the acting CEOs of the institution following the retirement of Petronila Ogut.

In a press conference, Okeyo confirmed that the board had settled on Mr Odede, paving way for the beginning of the mountainous work aimed at reaching the goals of the agency.
