Nairobi County Government Hikes Parking Fee for The Second Time In a Row

Motorists will now part with Sh 400 as daily fees for parking in Nairobi’s central Business District from 4th December 2019.

In a notice issued by the county’s director of parking Tom Tinega, the parking charges will be hiked from the current Sh 200 in what many motorists say will make car ownership an expensive affair.

The upward revision of the parking fees follows the enactment of the County’s Finance Act 2019.

Zones outside the CBD like Westlands,Upper Hill,Community,Ngara,Milimani,Yaya Center, Industrial area, High ridge among others will remain at Sh 200.

Buses will be charged Sh 1000 per day.

The parking fee will be Sh 100 in all commercial centres that are not categorized under Zone 1 and Zone 2.

Owners of private vehicles will be charged Sh 7000 for a seasonal parking ticket of one month, Sh 18,000 for three months, Sh 32,000 for six months and Sh 55,000 for one year, according to the new notice.
