Doctors strike

WITH ONLY ONE DAY INTO THE DOCTORS’ STRIKE EFFECTS ARE BEING FELT IN ALL PUBLIC HOSPITALS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. MEDICS DOWNED THEIR TOOLS ON MONDAY PROTESTING THE GOVERNMENT DECISION TO DECENTRALIZE THE HEALTH SECTOR TO THE COUNTY GOVERNMENTS. THE MEDICAL FRATERNITY ARGUES THAT THE COUNTY GOVERNMENTS HAVE NO CAPACITY TO HANDLE THE SENSITIVE HEALTH DOCKET MORE SO WITHOUT A HEALTH ACT IN PLACE. WE VISITED SOME PUBLIC HOSPITALS WHERE PATIENTS ARE CRYING FOUL OF BEING REFERRED TO PRIVATE HOSPITALS THAT ARE BEYOND THEIR EXPENSE AND SOME ARE ALREADY FULL TO CAPACITY.
