ZAMBIA AND ZIMBABWE HAVE SECURED 294 MILLION US DOLLARS FUNDING FROM INTERNATIONAL INVESTORS TO REHABILITATE KARIBA DAM THAT IS OWNED BY BOTH COUNTRIES AND IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSING PUTTING THE LIVES OF 3.5 MILLION PEOPLE IN SOUTHERN AFRICA AT RISK. THE KARIBA HYDROELECTRIC DAM IS LOCATED BETWEEN ZAMBIA AND ZIMBABWE AND SUPPLIES ELECTRICITY TO BOTH COUNTRIES, BUT YEARS OF LACK OF SUFFICIENT FUNDING HAS LEFT THE FACILITY WITHOUT THE MUCH NEEDED REPAIRS.
